Fort Wayne Derby Girls Wrap Up 2009 Home Season & Partner with Indiana Tech for Next Charity Bout
On Saturday, April 11, the Fort Wayne Derby Girls hosted their 4th and final interleague bout of the 2009 season at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum. Hundreds of fans came out to support the local non-profit sports organization and witnessed two ferocious bouts, as Fort Wayne's SWAT Team defeated Steel City's B Unit 83 to 67 and Fort Wayne's All Stars, the Bomb Squad, fell to Steel City's Steel Hurtin' 143 to 69. The SWAT Team ends its season with an impressive 4-0 record, while the Bomb Squad boasts it's best record since the team's inception in 2006, at 3-1 for the home season. The Fort Wayne Derby Girls still have two charity bouts remaining in Fort Wayne. On Saturday, April 25, they are teaming up with Indiana Tech to raise money for Hoosier Burn Camp and the Liz/Jas Scholarship fund. The bout will be held in the Schaefer Center Gymnasium at 6pm. On Sunday, May 17, the Fort Wayne Derby Girls will host their last charity bout for 2009 and will raise money for Big Brothers Big Sisters.
