Fort Wayne Derby Girls to Host Charity Bout to Benefit DSANI

Fort Wayne, Indiana (December 10, 2009) The Fort Wayne Derby Girls are hosting a charity bout on Sunday, December 13, at Bell's Skating Rink to benefit The Down Syndrome Association of Northeast Indiana (DSANI).

Doors Open: 5pm
Derby Brats Bout: 5:30pm
FWDG Bout: 6:15pm
Admission: $5

Fort Wayne is at the pinnacle of Indiana's roller derby resurgence. Since October 2005, the Fort Wayne Derby Girls, a non-profit, volunteer-run organization, has raised over $40,000 for local women's and children's charities. Charities benefiting from its efforts include: SCAN, Erin's House, Charis House, Sexual Assault Treatment Center, Hoosier Burn Camp, Great Lakes Burn Camp, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Habitat for Humanity- Women Build, Easter Seals ARC, Turnstone Center for Disabled Children, Victim's Assistance Program, Make A Wish Foundation, Ft Wayne Women's Bureau and Crossroad Children's Home. The charity based sports league competes both locally and nationally. Its current home season runs from January through May with bouts held at the Coliseum.
