Fort Wayne Derby Girls’ Bomb Squad Moves up 6 Spots in National Flat Track Roller Derby Rankings
The Fort Wayne Derby Girls, Fort Wayne’s only all female, flat-track professional roller derby league, is pleased to announce that its all star team, the Bomb Squad, has moved up 6 spots in the Women’s Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA) quarterly rankings. Previously ranked 29, the Bomb Squad is now ranked 23 out of over 300 roller derby league nationwide.
Fort Wayne Derby Girls were accepted into the WFTDA in January 2007, and the Bomb Squad made its debut in the rankings at 29 in October 2007. Now ranked 23, the team has a shot at qualifying for the Eastern Regional Tournament, which will take place in Madison, Wisconsin in October 2008.

Since the birth of the state’s first all-female, flat track roller derby league in October 2005, the league has donated over $25,000 to local women and children’s charity. The league has grown to two home teams of local women, as well as a traveling all-star team, the Bomb Squad. The league embodies the strength, courage, and vitality of Fort Wayne women, and serves to provide another form of athletic entertainment to the Summit City.
