Fort Wayne Derby Girls Hold Annual Tryouts
Have you ever wondered what it takes to be a derby girl? On June 23 and June 28th, the Fort Wayne Derby Girls will be hosting an orientation meeting from 7 – 8:30 p.m. at Bell's Skating Rink in New Haven, IN for an orientation to the league and upcoming tryouts.
Interested skaters will be required to attend a skating boot camp hosted by Bell's Skating Rink. The boot camp will run for four weeks on Monday evenings from 7 – 8:30 p.m. beginning on July 12th. Cost is $50.00 per skater and helmet is required. Rental skates are available.
Potential candidate from the boot camp will be invited to try-out on either August 9th or August 16th.

Roller derby, once a common sport in mid-'70s, has staged a comeback. Fort Wayne is at the pinnacle of Indiana's roller derby resurgence. Since October 2005, the Fort Wayne Derby Girls, a non-profit, volunteer-run organization, has raised $47,000 for local women's and children's charities.
