Fort Wayne Derby Girls Seek to Raise $2000 for the Great Lakes Burn Camp

The Fort Wayne Derby Girls will endeavor to raise $2000 during their third bout of 2006 to contribute to the Great Lakes Burn Camp. The bout, themed “Derby Deeds Done Dirt Cheap” will take place at the Roller Dome South on Saturday August 26, 2006.  Doors will open at 7pm with the bout starting at 8pm.

The Great Lakes Burn Camp, located in Jackson Michigan, is a special place for kids ages 7-17 to meet, heal, grow and support other burn survivors. Kids share their stories and bond with other kids in a comfortable, relaxed environment. Unconditional love and acceptance is only part of what each camper receives at Great Lakes Burn Camp. They strive to remove all barriers that may keep children from participating in events and activities. Campers also receive well-balanced meals and 24-hour medical supervision. Dressing changes, physical therapy or other special medical services are managed by the camp nurse. Transportation to and from camp is provided. Opportunities for burn survivors are made possible through generous financial and material donations and services provided by businesses, organizations and individuals throughout the nation. For more information, visit their website at www.greatlakesburncamp.com.

The Fort Wayne Derby Girls have raised over $6000 since March of this year for local organizations dedicated to the welfare of women and children. The last organization to benefit from the FWDG’s was SCAN (Stop Child Abuse and Neglect).
